McCormacks Bay

This largely neglected wetland has been 'adopted' as another project by the Estuary Trust in 2014. Christchurch City Council as land owners supervise the project and funding has been received from Environment Canterbury Bio-diversity Fund.

On September 25  in 2016 the Estuary Trust was thrilled to be able to hand over the 2 year enhancemnet project to local volunteers from the Ferrymead Rotary Club and MtPleasant Resident Association.  Planning for this project commenced in 2013 with the first working bee organised in September 2014. The aim of the Trust was to establish a volunteer working groups fromlocal community and to then hand over the project to the community.  This has been achieved by being able to hand over to Myles Richardson as the volunteer coordinator. CCC park ranger Matt Rose has taken over the task from Andrew Crossland to supervise and guide the volunteer group.   The Estuary Trust will now investigate the next restoration project!

Restoration sessions for 2019, every 3rd Sunday of the month from 2 - 4 pm meet at McCormacks Bay. Just look out for CCC park ranger vehicle along McCormacks Bay Road. Tools provided.
