Planting native trees in Charlesworth Reserve is fantastic but if they are then not weeded, mulched or watered the survival rate of these planting effort is actually very low. It was agreed that the Trust would try to get a team of volunteers together and since May 2008 we now have a group of 14 people who are affectionally known as “Andrew’s little helpers”. Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month we meet between 3 and 5pm to follow the instructions of our “esteemed leader” - CCC park ranger Andrew Crossland. With enthusiasm, humour and a fantastic story telling ability he has kept the team enthusiastic now for 1 year already. In total we have worked 248.5 fun and productive hours at the Charlesworth reserve. And best of all the seedling survival rate has jumped from approx 40 to 60%. So if you are up for a few social hours joining “Andrew’s Little Helpers” and in return enjoy the good company of like minded people, enjoy getting updates on birdlife from Andrew then please consider joining us soon as we can certainly do with a few extra hands!
There's no need to register - just turn up!
