Q: Why is it going slowly?
A: If you have dial-up rather than broadband it will be slow. The GIS has over 145 layers of data, so this will also make it run slow.

Q: Who will add the new layers/data?
A: Ryan Elley will do this. Ryan expects that updating the AHEIT GIS quarterly wouldn’t take him too much time – about half an hour, here and there.

Q: Who will collect the layers/data?
A: New layers/data should be sent to Shelley for safe-keeping until it is the next time to update the GIS. Once there is two or three items to update, Shelley will ask Ryan to do this updating.

Q: Can the AHEIT GIS be found from the ECAN website?
A: Yes there is a link from the ECAN website to the GIS. The other way to access it (and more direct) is from AHEIT’s website.

Q: How to get data ready for GIS?
A: There is no ‘one’ way as it depends on the type of data. Anyone starting research or wanting to add a layer to the GIS should first phone Ryan and talk with him about their plans. This way, when it comes to Ryan adding this layer/data to the AHEIT GIS, it is likely to be able to be done quickly and easily.

Q: I cannot see the layer I have selected. How do I do this?
A: To find layers on the GIS, you need to expand all the “+”’s symbols on a particular topic until you have got down to a “-“ to make sure all the data relevant to that topic is open
